Exactly what Is Chanca Piedra and the reason to use this?
Chanca piedra, a herbal supplement, is often referred to as "stone breaker"
because it's an effective natural remedy for kidney stones. Chanca piedra is
part of the family Phyllanthaceae and is an exotic tree. It grows in the Amazon
rainforest and in other tropical areas of the world. Other benefits include
treating malaria, diabetes, hepatitis as well as digestive issues and pain
relief. It is however not approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration
(FDA) for the treatment of any condition.1
A few studies have proven that chanca piedra has an effect on the body.
However, these have not provided the evidence that is needed to support any
claims about health at this time.
Chanca Piedra for Kidney Stones
A study from 2018 included 56 patients suffering from kidney stones. They
received the drug chanca piedra. Ultrasounds were used to evaluate the
effectiveness of Chanca piedra
benefits in reducing stones, over the course of 12 weeks. Chanca piedra is
safe to be taken in the mouth. There were no side consequences. In addition,
chanca piedra has been found to lower urinary oxalate levels and uric acid
levels.
The study authors concluded that chanca piedre caused a significant decrease
in urinary oxalate as well as uric acid in patients with hyperuricosuria or
hyperoxaluria . Consuming chanca piedre was a way to eliminate urinary
calculi.
Antimicrobial Activity
In a 2014 study the chanca piedra plant was shown to have antimicrobial
properties against Helicobacter pylori .4? H. Pylori is an organism that is
believed to play a significant role in the development of digestive disorders
and is also thought to cause an increased risk for stomach cancer. The study
revealed that chancapiedra didn't stop the growth of good bacteria.
Hepatitis B Treatment
Research has shown that P. Niruri may be used to treat liver problems and
antiviral therapy.2 A review from 2016 noted studies showing that between 50%
and 60% of people with hepatitis B that received health benefits Chanca piedra
had a decrease in hepatitis B antigen. Study authors surmised that the chanca
piedra might be effective against the hepatitis B through preventing the
replication (growth) of the Hepatitis B virus.2? However, more research on
clinical trials is needed to definitively support these assertions.
What is the process?
A study from 2010 revealed that chanca piedra impacted different stages of rock formation. The study revealed that chanca pidra can help by relaxing the ureters helping to expel the stone and fragments of it after the lithotripsy.
